Stand Fast; Run Faster
Stand Fast; Run Faster. Simple platformer where you're instructed is to complete a level within a set amount of time, except time moves faster the faster you move. Basically, be fast with your stand-ing. I'm sorry for that.
Info:
Controls are explained within the game. WASD or Arrow Keys to move, Space to Jump.
All SFX are sourced from various artists within Pixabay (thank you!). Visuals are created by me.
Music is, unfortunately, created by me. (currently, there is no music, because I figured what I had sounded to bad to add).
AI Use: Unless you count me using AI to help with the about one trillion problems i've had, then no. No AI assets used or harmed within the making of this "game." (Also to clarify I didn't copy and paste like chunks of code or whatever).
Also thank you for "Starburst" on the discord who stopped me from probably more wasted hours from my brain numbness.
Also i'm aware there's a bug in Level 4 where the doors stay invisible after a reset. Sadly I didn't notice it until after the submission period.
Overview of Story / Lore:
(who actually reads this?):
You're PRINT #52A
. You have no memory, or knowledge of who you are. Every chamber you are printed into, you have a set amount of time to complete, or you will be "reset." Except, through unexplained science, you are within a different state of time. The faster you move, the faster the outside world's flow of time moves relative to you.
You are being observed, and the puzzles shall later be further developed for the next generation of subjects. Good luck.

that was fun, VERY fun, the player flow was awsome and the game was short but thats the the fun part in it imo
i feel like more games in the game jam should be like this, small, quick but they tell you immediately what the core mechanic is
pleaseeee add that when you run (hold shift) you are allowed to switch levers (press e)
also i would work more on the artstyle, everything seemed very similar and i couldnt tell the difference between background and teleports
awsome game !
The shortness of the game was totally planned... yeah that's it it was alll part of my plan
I didn't know about the running-pressing lever thing. Seemed to be fine with me... probably just some weird web build thing
I don't have that much experience with art so thus the lack of inspiration; I agree with the teleport pad thing but I didn't think it'll be that big of an issue at the time :<
But oh well can't fix that for the jam now
Honestly (as same as all the other reviews) thank you!
This was very cool. I spent way to long on the second level going to the right before realising it was impossible and just going left lol.
I mean that's the intention... but also if you're like really fast it's not completely impossible ;>
Anyways Ty!
I actually got it first try going to the right!
Aw man I should've made it harder
Aight new update you got 10 seconds to finish it + its 2 times longer now
Extremely fun game. Would love to see this as a full game
Aye thanks!
Overall, I really liked the game. But those inclined planes... Something clearly needs to be done about them. It will be interesting to play the full version. I hope I’ll be able to complete the second level by then. The graphics are nice, and the character movement is too. Especially when you realize that you can’t just hold down the sprint button — you need to use it wisely, just like the jump. Good luck with the full version!
It's always that second level isn't it
Anyways thank you!
(always I hate to be that guy but are you talking sarcastically about the inclined planes or not. I'm sorry I'm kinda braindead today)
I meant the slopes literally, not sarcastically.
I was having trouble with this specific spot on the second level. But I went back today, and the problem seems to be gone. I tried it around 20 times and couldn’t reproduce it. Maybe you changed something, or maybe I just got better at it.
Yesterday, when I tried to jump from the slope, the character would often just slide down instead. It felt like the character was frequently slightly in the air while going downhill, so there was no moment when I could actually push off and jump.
Stopping first just to make the jump work doesn’t really feel like a solution for this kind of game. And jumping from the flat part on the right didn’t even occur to me, because the game is about saving time, so naturally I was trying to cut the corner as much as possible.
Turns out Godot has a feature to fix this, and thus the issue has since been fixed. I love you Godot!
Also, I modified the second level that day so that might've been why you couldn't recreate it
Ty!
Very solid foundations ! I enjoyed it, i would hope for some more levels ! (I liked the text animation, good uses of SFX, would have loved a small indication about the timer that kills you at the start even if it's kinda obvious after your first death !)
Thank you! Although I think I'll only be able to add a couple more levels in time. And I'll try to address the timer thing (it'll probably just be text)
